I offer an exciting programme of training and Continual Professional Development (CPD) workshops. CPD is a term used across many different industries to describe ongoing learning that contributes to an individual’s knowledge and skills, thereby enhancing their ability to perform within their vocation. CPD is also a requirement of all counsellors in accordance with BACP and developments in Child Protection.

As well as the range of services that I offer I can also write and deliver bespoke training, CPD, psychological wellbeing events and consultative solutions for organisations.

Through a range of short courses and workshops, I offer training in specific areas of counselling and psychotherapy. My short courses and workshops, which are delivered online or in-person, are designed for anyone with a general interest in psychology, personal and professional development, or counselling and health professionals looking for CPD training.

Introduction to Basic Listening Skills

Listening is key to all effective communication. Without the ability to listen effectively, messages are easily misunderstood. As a result, communication breaks down and the sender of the message can easily become frustrated or irritated. If there is one communication skill you should aim to master, then listening is it. With this course you will learn how to become an effective helpful listener in relationships, at work or as an introduction to counselling.

Introduction to Basic Counselling Skills

This course focuses on an understanding of counselling and developing practical skills. The importance of counselling for the wellbeing of individuals and society is being increasingly recognised. You will be introduced to the nature of counselling and learn and practice active listening skills such as reflecting, paraphrasing, summarising, and giving feedback.The course is aimed at anyone who may be considering either a career in counselling, or wanting to develop valuable helping and listening skills, as well as anyone interested in developing self-awareness.

LGBTQ+ Awareness Training Workshop

This workshop has been designed specifically to not only educate but raise awareness about people who identify as being part of the LGBTQ+ community. The workshop helps you to recognise your responsibility for promoting equality and diversity, encouraging an inclusive environment, and reducing the likelihood of discrimination, harassment, victimisation and bullying of LGBTQ+ staff members. By the end of the workshop , you'll feel confident in your knowledge of gender identity and diversity, LGBTQ+ terminology, the problem with gender stereotypes and the difference between sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Introduction to Grief and Loss Counselling

This course is designed to equip counsellors with the essential skills and knowledge to work with grief and loss. It covers the fundamental skills needed to be successful in this role, as well as key counselling process and methods. This course is designed to explore the different types of grief and loss that clients experience with a particular focus on bereavement counselling. In this course, you will learn how death and dying affect both adults and children, with an in-depth look at the stages of grief and the process of dying.

Counselling Ethically with Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity

Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) is a more inclusive term for the more traditionally used LGBTQ+ as it encompasses a wider range of gender and sexual diversity identities. This course has been designed to educate counsellors in how to work in an inclusive and affirming way with all of their clients. By the end of this course you will have a greater knowledge of gender identity and diversity as well as LGBTQ+ terminology, and understand the need for affirmative therapy.

Safeguarding Awareness Training for Counsellors & Therapists

This workshop will increase your knowledge and confidence about making safeguarding decisions about children and adults in the therapeutic context. This course provides you with the skills and knowledge that you need to keep people safe. It covers both adults and children, as any of us could fall victim to abusive or exploitative behaviours. You will learn about the common types of abuse and safeguarding concerns, signs that may indicate them, and what to do if you have a concern or somebody discloses abuse to you. You will also learn about the importance of good record keeping, and be taught how to write a safeguarding report.

Taking Your Counselling Practice Online

This workshop equips counselling practitioners with the skills, knowledge and abilities to work online and offer services as an online counsellor, providing that the practitioner already holds a formal recognised counselling qualification and is a member of a professional body.
